Where the data comes from
Federal solicitations come from SAM.gov's nightly bulk publication — the complete set, not a sample. State, county and city bids are collected directly from the procurement platforms those governments actually use: Bonfire, OpenGov, Ionwave, BidNet Direct, PlanetBids and others. Each bid links straight back to the agency's own posting, which is where documents live and where you submit.
How search works
A keyword is matched against the title and the solicitation number, not the description. Searching "website" should return website jobs — not every notice whose boilerplate says documents are posted on our website. Tick Search descriptions too when you want the wider net.
What the asterisk means
Only about a third of federal notices publish a place of performance. For the rest, the only location on record is the contracting office's state — frequently a different state from where the work happens. Those are marked with an asterisk so you know the location is the buyer, not the job.
What it costs to run
Nothing, and that is a design decision rather than a promise. The whole bid list is a static file rebuilt each morning and searched in your browser, so serving it does not get more expensive as more people use it. An account stores only your email and the bids you chose to track.
Refresh
The crawl runs once each morning. Bids that have closed drop off the same day. Last refreshed 2026-09-20T20:02 UTC.
