TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY: Aerospace Vehicle Entry Flightpath Control (TOP2-303)

NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION·AL*·Other·Federal

Scope

NASAs Technology Transfer Program solicits inquiries from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market the following technology. License rights may be issued on an exclusive or nonexclusive basis and may include specific fields of use. NASA provides no funding in conjunction with these potential licenses. THE TECHNOLOGY: The state-of-the-art in hypersonic entry Guidance and Control (G&C) is traditionally based on rigid entry vehicles, like the Orion capsule, Space Shuttle, etc., that use a Reaction Control System (RCS) to control the bank angle of the vehicle. However, for future high mass missions to Mars, advancements in hypersonic aerospace vehicle design, and evolving science goals, are stretching the performance capabilities of traditional entry systems. NASAs Pterodactyl team at Ames Research Center has developed a novel yaw-to-bank…
