Deer Carcass Processing
Scope
The U. S. Department of Agricultural (USDA) Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services (WS) division requires a meat processing facility to process white-tailed deer carcasses in the State of Illinois. The contracted processing facility must be located within 70 road miles of the intersection of Interstate 55 and Interstate 80 in Northeast Illinois and have paved road access to the facility, to facilitate USDA delivery of deer carcasses 2 or more times a week. The processing facility or facilities shall be permitted and approved by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (Illinois DNR) to process wild white-tailed deer meat.
